Color Theory for Designers, Part 1: The Meaning of Color - Smashing Magazine

Colour theory is a science and art unto itself, which some build entire careers on, as colour consultants or sometimes brand consultants. Knowing the effects colour has on a majority of people is incredibly valuable expertise that designers can master and offer to their clients.

I find choosing colours and combining them very difficult because it may not have the desired outcome that I was hoping for, or may not feel like it is right for the product.

As my project is related to Golf I felt it was important to have a colour palette closely related to. the colour Green. Also from the research I found the this colour represents traits that I want my project to have:

Green is a very down–to–earth color. It can represent new beginnings and growth. It also signifies renewal and abundance

One of Putt Potentials goals is to help improve users putting so using green is a perfect reflection of this goal. I also wanted to add blue shade to branding colours, as blue reflects trust and the scientific elements of the app.

Brand Colours

Below is a swatch of brand colour I will use throughout my project. I will use these colours to keep everything consisent and closely related to the brand.
