Armed with all my research, it was time to pen to paper and start designing my app. I would follow the same process I normally use when designing a new product. Started on paper and then worked my up to a high res mock-up.

Process

Paper wireframing > Block Framing > Low res wireframing( more detailed with content) > High Res Mock-up> Prototyping

I might even create a paper prototype and test it with users to get some initial feedback in order to help me see what problems may occur in my concept. I follow this process as it is the best way for me to eliminate any problems that may run into, as well as think about how the app will function without contributing long hours into something final which may have unforeseen errors. This would really slow down my design process as well as the timeline I have to finish the project.

Sketching out Product

From the site map I created prior, I had a list of features I needed to design out further in order to piece together the layout of the app.

Analyse Putting Stroke

Stroke analysis is the main feature of the app. Using this function will give users a breakdown of their stroke into measurable components so that they can understand how what is happening in their stroke. For this part, I will have to create a number of visuals in order to help explain the complex information.

Pairing with Mobile

As my concept requires the use of a smartwatch the user will be required to pair both devices to get access to the majority of features. This process needs to be clear and easy to follow. To pair the device you will have to have both apps opened up and then connect using the mobile phone. I have based this on every device I have used in the past.

Discovery

The discovery panel will record all the analyses you have made using the app and you will be able to review them at any time. One of the things that I had to think about was how the user was going to change between each shot he takes. I think some sort of drag function could work really well for this.

Coaching

This function will have a selection of different lessons to choose from. They will provide in-depth coaching related to the chosen subject. The aim is to educate golfers on the different skills required. At the end of each section, there will be a challenge feature that will test what my users have learned in a fun game-style format. These challenges can be played against friends and people around the world.
